Persian miniature painting emerged from classical literature — including Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh, Nezami’s Khamsa, and the poetic worlds of Hafez, Saadi, and Jami — where scenes of love, wine, nature, and human connection were depicted not merely as illustrations, but as reflections of life itself.
In this composition, a woman and a man sit side by side in a moment of quiet intimacy. They are not simply drinking wine, but sharing a space of companionship, calm, and presence. Within the tradition of Persian miniature, wine symbolizes both earthly joy and a deeper metaphor for love, passion, and spiritual awareness.
Using a printed miniature image as the foundation, the artist has reimagined the work through colored gemstones, transparent resin, and hand-applied oil paint. These contemporary interventions transform the image from a historical reference into a living, tactile artwork.
The resin acts as a veil of time — preserving the past while bringing it into the present. The gemstones echo the ornamental richness of illuminated manuscripts and royal courts, while the oil paint adds depth, texture, and a sense of human warmth.
